Map the Meal Gap Study 2026

New data from Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap highlights that food insecurity affects every community across the United States, with more than 8 in 10 counties with the highest estimated rates of food insecurity located in rural areas or the South. The study also finds that approximately 25 million people, nearly half of all people experiencing food insecurity, have incomes too high to qualify for federal nutrition assistance, leaving them without a critical bridge to food security and financial stability.
