New Bipartisan Congressional Caucus to Focus on Food Policy

US Representative Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) is preparing to launch a bipartisan Fix Our Food Caucus in the House of Representatives, bringing lawmakers together to address some of the nation’s most pressing food policy challenges. According to Civil Eats, the caucus will focus on four priorities: making healthy food more affordable and accessible, protecting people from toxic chemicals in food, ensuring children have access to healthy school meals, and preventing and treating diet-related chronic diseases.

The initiative highlights an opportunity to advance food and nutrition policy across traditional political divides, particularly in areas where food access, public health, and children’s nutrition intersect. Its progress could offer a useful development to watch for organizations working to advance equitable food systems and improve health outcomes through policy change.
