Health Equity Compact: Addressing Systemic Issues in Healthcare

Boston Medical Center is an H2HC Advisory Council member and is represented by Dr. Thea James, Executive Director of the Health Equity Accelerator and Vice President of Mission and Associate Chief Medical Officer.

The Health Equity Compact is a group of more than 80 cross-sector leaders of color committed to jointly advancing health equity in Massachusetts. By leveraging their lived experiences and professional expertise, their mission is to advance statewide policy and institutional changes that center racial justice and health equity. Priorities include governance, measurement and accountability, workforce programs, and healthcare delivery and payment reform, including increased coverage and access, and social determinants of health.  

The Health Equity Compact is promoting legislation to build accountability in the healthcare system. Dr. Thea James, Vice President of Mission at Boston Medical Center and a member of the Health Equity Compact, joined WCVB to dive into the effects of the legislation and inequities in the system.
