The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a federal nutrition program that protects and improves the nutrition and health of pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding individuals, infants, and children up to 5 years of age from households with low incomes.

Despite the incredible benefits of WIC, far too many eligible people are missing out on the program. Nationally, only 53.5 percent of eligible women, infants, and children received WIC, meaning nearly 5.5 million eligible people are missing out on WIC’s support.

A new publication from FRAC, Connecting Families to WIC: A Practical Toolkit for Health Care Professionals, is designed to help bridge that gap. Written in partnership with Dr. Kimberly Montez and Dr. Kofi Essel, this toolkit was created to help health care providers, medical professionals, and anyone who treats or engages with families learn about opportunities to connect eligible patients to WIC.  Join FRAC and Drs. Essel and Montez for a webinar to explore this tool and ways to utilize and share it in your communities.
